Perhaps for a more modest appearance we can lengthen the bottom hem. 

I'm really glad to have stumbled on this blog who gave the complete tutorial for sewing the dress, FREE! I think the pattern is perfect for beginner, no hassle about making and cutting those sleeves, and for the red embellishment, instead of the beads and corals she opted for lace motif appliques. Isn't that clever?

This is how her finished project looked like. I'm so excited to make one for myself once I gather the fabric and appliques needed.
